Soooo good! We were traveling and craving some good, fresh sushi to take out. We were not disappointed. We ordered the spicy crunch salmon roll, eel avocado roll, and the "amazing tuna roll". We loved having the option of brown rice for the rolls too! The seaweed salad was delicious as well and the miso soup fantastic!
We will be back whenever in Bethesda! -

ugh! if the rating was all about the food, i'd give maki a four star rating. yes, the food is very good. especially since i live two blocks from the cute restaurant and my family and i wish we could go every other day, which we used to do ... until we grew tired of dealing with an a server who is simply unfriendly, acts like you're putting her out, and never ever smiles. the most you get is something mumbled as she turns from you after you give her your money. it takes the fun out of going there. we have actually asked when she isn't working to avoid her and the ambiance killing attitude but she's always there. i really wish they would get someone else that enjoys being around living human beings that are polite and excited to order food and spend their hard earned money but unfortunately, she's been there forever and is the only server we've ever seen there. she seems to have had a lifetime appointment like a supreme court justice.
last night for instance, i was ready to crush their amazing mango salad and their savory arrangement of fresh sushi made by energized sushi chefs ... the kids were in the mood to go out and then my wife made a face and said "i just don't want to deal with the server their." i nodded in a agreement and we hit a thai place instead of walking two blocks for a great meal. if someone is reading this, please talk to the server to be more pleasant. she doesn't have to be friendly, just pleasant and slightly welcoming. we would start going back again. i really miss the yummy food ... -

Delicious sushi and generous portions!! Cucumber in their rolls is bursting with freshness. Nice wait staff. Be careful not to confuse it with Maki Maki, which is farther up Wisconsin. This gem is next to Trader Joe's.

Neighborhood sushi joint that is absolutely solid. I've been here 4-5 times and the staff is friendly and the food is consistent. I will come again. Prices are as expected. They have a good lunch special for either a bento or sushi special. The sushi special comes in a few different forms, which is nice! I would eat here regularly for lunch if was closer during the day.

Disappointed Walter reed patient. My husband drove down to pick up a called in take away order (he's not a sushi guy). Got back to my room, no wasabi ginger or soy...hard to enjoy my tuna rolls without the condiments. I called back to let them know of the mistake and she was more than happy to send the delivery guy out to rectify the issue but I would have had to meet them at the gate, I am in a hospital gown unable to walk at all. She then said she'd have the manager call me back and it never happened. Was sooo looking forward to other than hospital food!
